TRICHY: As Chennai reels under water shortage, IT entrepreneurs in Trichy have been seeing an opportunity in it — to attract companies keen on expansion or to have back office management to the city. The thinking has gained credence with reports of some IT firms in the state capital asking employees to even work from home to save water.

With the city’s air connectivity improving, entrepreneurs in the IT sector say Trichy remains a frontrunner among tier-ii cities to reap the benefits. Enquiries seeking office space for setting up back office management in Trichy have increased since the 2015 Chennai floods….
